A collision led to DENVER™ getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Adrianinho Negri hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guilherme Abud in the 6th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Lauro Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute, Diego Cerezo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Diego Cerezo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, DENVER™'s goal looked a bit too open when Diego Cerezo came free, but Toninho Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anselmo Batista during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 19 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Batista. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Adrianinho Negri put in a rough tackle. In the 22nd minute, one of DENVER™:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for DENVER™. 28 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Agnaldo Vargas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Toninho Pinheiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 34th match minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilmar Donato to maneuver through the defense. DENVER™'s Toninho Pinheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anselmo Batista in the 40th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guilherme Abud to make the kick off. In the 56th match minute, DENVER™ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilmar Freitas to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th minute, Nilmar Freitas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Gilmar Donato got a free kick in the 60th minute. Anselmo Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Cleithon Minuhin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to DENVER™ getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Conrado Paraibano hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Deivid Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Deivid Queirós was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Toninho Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice moves Agnaldo Vargas could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Toninho Pinheiro however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to DENVER™ getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Cleithon Minuhin hit a great ball. Toninho Pinheiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agnaldo Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 95 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Cerezo. The DENVER™ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Nova Iguaçu MZFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
