In the 19th minute, João Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Soni Féron's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Egil Sølve read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jann Sparegodt got free with Eliézer Porto in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 27th minute João Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egil Sølve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the game, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's João Batista nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Egil Sølve made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jann Sparegodt made a kick off. In the 51st minute Carlos Alberto Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egil Sølve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eliézer Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kalle Bjarkmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 56 minutes, Casper Emerek mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Holmkjar Hotspurs and the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Holmkjar Hotspurs's Casper Emerek got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 59th minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Joélson Paraibano ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Egil Sølve. Egil Sølve yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Eliézer Porto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kalle Bjarkmann in the 63rd minute of the match. When João Batista came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Batista couldn't finish the play. Holmkjar Hotspurs made a substitution. Vilfred Bornkessel replaced Pablo Heitmann. Holmkjar Hotspurs's Helmuth Mannsmeier was substituted for Jann Sparegodt. 70 minutes into the match, Holmkjar Hotspurs's goalkeeper Egil Sølve had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Batista. João Batista came free with the goalkeeper in the 80th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Egil Sølve could save by the left post. Holmkjar Hotspurs's Egil Sølve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joélson Paraibano in the 81st minute of play. In the 82nd minute Joélson Paraibano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egil Sølve saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eliézer Porto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Timmi Bantz went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. Holmkjar Hotspurs's Egil Sølve proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Holmkjar Hotspurs from getting a goal against them. João Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Egil Sølve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Egil Sølve made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joélson Paraibano in the 96th minute. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
