Caxias do Sul's supporters rose to their feet, but João Batista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silviu Bogătan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 5 minutes of play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Silviu Bogătan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Marcel Abreu scored 0-2 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Silviu Bogătan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Marcel Abreu sped through Unicorns ™'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silviu Bogătan. Marcel Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silviu Bogătan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Abreu in the 20th minute of the match. Eusebiu Ştiubei kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Silviu Bogătan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Batista in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcel Abreu to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute Marcel Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silviu Bogătan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Leopoldo Sanches looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Carlos Alberto Magalhães sped through Unicorns ™'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silviu Bogătan. Carlos Alberto Magalhães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silviu Bogătan having to interfere. Silviu Bogătan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcel Abreu in the 44th minute of play. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Fausto Ferraz got control of the ball when Alex Răduț tried to sneak it across the goal line. 48 minutes into the game, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Silviu Bogătan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcel Abreu to strike the kick off in the second half. Leopoldo Sanches scored 0-7 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Silviu Bogătan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 56 minutes into the match, Unicorns ™'s goalkeeper Silviu Bogătan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leopoldo Sanches. In the 63rd minute, Gheorghe Albescu made a precise shot to the right of Fausto Ferraz. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-7. In the 69th minute of the match, Marcel Abreu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Silviu Bogătan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's João Batista got a free kick in the 70th minute. Damian Ghișe kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 73rd minute of the match Carlos Alberto Magalhães shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silviu Bogătan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Fausto Ferraz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gheorghe Albescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Silviu Bogătan was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Marcel Abreu capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Marcel Abreu really showed his touch with that goal: 2-8. Fausto Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niculae Bărbulescu in the 87th minute of play. In the 91st minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Marcel Abreu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-9. After a defensive mix-up in S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's zone, Alex Răduț stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Ferraz came out of the goal and Alex Răduț tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Unicorns ™ booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Alberto Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
