Gilbert Podolski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. ★RO★ T-REX's Chicão Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryszard Pilipiec in the 11th minute of play. Thomas Stålberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Gilbert Podolski made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Igor Maruda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pogoń Stawiszyn's supporters rose to their feet, but Igor Maruda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 21 minutes into the match, ★RO★ T-REX's goal looked a bit too open when Ryszard Pilipiec came free, but Chicão Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ryszard Pilipiec in the 21st minute of play forced ★RO★ T-REX's goalkeeper Chicão Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kazimierz Dylla blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chicão Queirós having to make a save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of ★RO★ T-REX booed when Pogoń Stawiszyn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mieszko Bartelak didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eliodor Isaia might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilbert Podolski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eliodor Isaia ran back to his position shaking his head. Gilbert Podolski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nichifor Pavel in the 71st minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Thomas Stålberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gilbert Podolski was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 77 minutes into the match, ★RO★ T-REX's Eliodor Isaia sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilbert Podolski narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
