When Justino Inko fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Los Irrompibles's protests and gave Justino Inko a yellow card for diving instead. Academia Monte Gordo made a substitution. Alípio Guerreiro replaced Norberto Frois. The supporters of Academia Monte Gordo booed when Los Irrompibles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justino Inko didn't get a good kick on the ball. Justino Inko blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vasco Raminhos having to make a save. In the 15th match minute, Academia Monte Gordo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Di Maria to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 17 minutes, Álvaro Leiria managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academia Monte Gordo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Álvaro Leiria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Los Irrompibles defense, Belchior Ribas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Celso Precioso. The Los Irrompibles fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celso Precioso should have stopped the shot. In the 22nd minute Álvaro Leiria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Precioso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 minutes, Jaime Llorenc mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Los Irrompibles and the Academia Monte Gordo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 39 played minutes Los Irrompibles got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Llorenc. 42 minutes into the match, Los Irrompibles's goal looked a bit too open when Belchior Ribas came free, but Celso Precioso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Belchior Ribas made a precise shot to the right of Celso Precioso. Los Irrompibles's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The Los Irrompibles players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Academia Monte Gordo were winning 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Justino Inko was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Monte Gordo's zone, Justino Inko stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vasco Raminhos came out of the goal and Justino Inko tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 57 played minutes Los Irrompibles got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Llorenc. If Jaime Llorenc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Justino Inko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vasco Raminhos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Llorenc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Di Maria's late challenge caught a Los Irrompibles's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Di Maria helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Academia Monte Gordo's Di Maria got a free kick in the 84th minute. Celso Precioso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Belchior Ribas in the 93rd minute. The Academia Monte Gordo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Academia Monte Gordo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
