After 11 played minutes, FC Berea's Eric Dărmănescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Håkan Deckbergh came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Berea reached it. After 12 played minutes FC Berea got a freekick which was hit by Nae Braica. When FC Berea's Basarab Arotăriței in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye IFK Göteborg's goalie prevented a goal. After 23 played minutes IFK Göteborg got a freekick which was hit by Per-Erik Termander. An unexpectedly hard shot by Calistrat Boc in the 27th minute of play forced IFK Göteborg's goalkeeper Håkan Deckbergh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to IFK Göteborg getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Per-Erik Termander hit a great ball. Håkan Deckbergh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nae Braica in the 38th minute of the match. After 40 minutes of play, FC Berea's Calistrat Boc made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Håkan Deckbergh was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Håkan Deckbergh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calistrat Boc, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. With an all-out effort, FC Berea's Håkan Deckbergh threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Basarab Arotăriței, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 81 minutes into the match, IFK Göteborg's goal looked a bit too open when Basarab Arotăriței came free, but Håkan Deckbergh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Berea's Calistrat Boc slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Håkan Deckbergh. That made the score 0-4 after 87 minutes of play. 90 minutes into the game, Matthias Ahlstedt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. IFK Göteborg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Berea the free kick. In the 90th match minute, IFK Göteborg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matthias Ahlstedt to maneuver through the defense. Călin Onuț could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Håkan Deckbergh made a huge save.
