Armando Polidori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Salomo Montandon in the 32nd minute of the match. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Omar Bünder hit a great ball. Yannick Wüst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Minichiello in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of XMAS booed when Olympique Fribourg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salomo Montandon didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, XMAS's Christian Zaccardi got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 47th match minute, XMAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvaro Aversano to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Alessio Ascoli who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Yannick Wüst when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dave Barillari kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. In the 62nd minute Bruno Steiner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Polidori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ernesto Minichiello in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yannick Wüst prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernesto Minichiello got free with Yannick Wüst in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alberigo Gianfrancesco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. XMAS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Barillari was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
