This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Elpidio Amor as he didn't even see the shot coming. Marian Văduvescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franco Benvenuto, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Timo!'s goalkeeper couldn't reach when Cristian Fința 25 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Marian Văduvescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telmo Camargo in the 30th minute of play. If Nicolae Barbu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Terry Doyle hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The supporters of Timo! booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolae Barbu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute, Arquímedes Cesario left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Timo! fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Marian Văduvescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ilie Hurmuz in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute Ilie Hurmuz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marian Văduvescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Timo!'s Alexandr Lunin was substituted for Franco Benvenuto. 74 minutes into the match, Timo!'s goal looked a bit too open when Nicolae Barbu came free, but Elpidio Amor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zygmunt Dunajski in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elpidio Amor prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 85th minute of the match, Tomas Gelacio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Marian Văduvescu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.
