Sporting Buceo's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Mauricio Manuelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Máximo Correia having to interfere. Alfredo Tab's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Máximo Correia firmly grabbed it by the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Máximo Correia successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Máximo Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauricio Manuelo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Sporting Buceo's Máximo Correia got control of the ball when Mauricio Manuelo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Sporting Buceo booed when Talleres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Martínez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Josef Tunberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Sporting Buceo getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Sergio Rengifo hit a great ball. In the 37th minute Mauricio Manuelo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máximo Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mauricio Manuelo in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Máximo Correia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Sergio Rengifo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Talleres getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Perico Pérez hit a great ball. Talleres's Izydor Bugajski was substituted for Perico Pérez. Perico Pérez kicked well hit freekick during the 49th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 50th minute, Gutierrre Valseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Buceo's supporters rose to their feet, but Gutierrre Valseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cecilio Lastur breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sergio Rengifo to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Yao Yan Sen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Talleres's Mauricio Manuelo got a free kick in the 56th minute. The supporters of Sporting Buceo booed when Talleres was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Gonza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute, Mauricio Manuelo made a precise shot to the right of Máximo Correia. Sporting Buceo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sergio Rengifo got free with Cecilio Lastur in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Talleres's Cecilio Lastur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Rengifo in the 73rd minute of play. Sporting Buceo's supporters rose to their feet, but Sergio Rengifo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Máximo Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Tab, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. After having played for 94 minutes, Yao Yan Sen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting Buceo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yao Yan Sen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 98 minutes into the match, Sporting Buceo's goal looked a bit too open when Mauricio Manuelo came free, but Máximo Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Talleres fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting Buceo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
