The audience thought a goal was coming when Bennvar Nickler got free with Pål Sefastsson in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th minute of the match Real Södertälje got a corner. National Team Cape-Verde's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reynaldo Cerezo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of National Team Cape-Verde's goalie and right to Rikard Wolff. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. National Team Cape-Verde's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 46th minute, Bennvar Nickler made a precise shot to the right of Pål Sefastsson. National Team Cape-Verde's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bennvar Nickler stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Carsten Eckstein made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Hjalmar Browald sent off a good shot on target. Pål Sefastsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bennvar Nickler in the 56th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, National Team Cape-Verde's Anton Vibjörnsson seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Anton Vibjörnsson the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of National Team Cape-Verde protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Anton Vibjörnsson had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Real Södertälje's Evelio Rico was substituted for Jakob Källberg. In a very dangerous position, a player in National Team Cape-Verde fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 59th minute. Penalty! A wasted opportunity for National Team Cape-Verde. Pål Sefastsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bennvar Nickler in the 94th minute of play. If Bennvar Nickler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
