In the 19thth minute of the game Michal Hudák who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Baltazar Clavijo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomáš Požgaj got free with Yao Zhan Sang in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michal Hudák in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Tomáš Požgaj shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yao Zhan Sang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AFK Petržalka's Tomáš Požgaj got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang got control of the ball when Tomáš Požgaj tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Borussia Dortmund's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Yao Zhan Sang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomáš Požgaj, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the last second Yao Zhan Sang throw himself and got hold of the ball when Tomáš Požgaj in the 45thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Fernando Grover received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Štefan Semeno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 56 minutes into the game, AFK Petržalka's Tomáš Požgaj nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yao Zhan Sang made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Štefan Semeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Grover in the 64th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, AFK Petržalka's goalkeeper Štefan Semeno had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Grover. A throw-in in the 82nd minute of the game was made by Omar Orlanda with Astor Odol as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. AFK Petržalka's Štefan Semeno proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save AFK Petržalka from getting a goal against them. Michal Hudák took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Yao Zhan Sang. If Michal Hudák had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
