In the 5th match minute, Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percy Bertassi to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute Ronaldinho Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Augusto Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Romero in the 9th minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper José Augusto Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Arvin Larsson hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Percy Bertassi got free with Guga Tavares in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. José Augusto Alcântara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldinho Romero, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute of the match Mexilhão F. C. got a corner. Bahia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Germano Siqueira ran over to the corner to take the kick. 20 minutes into the match, Bahia's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho Romero came free, but José Augusto Alcântara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lauro Lima hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Ronaldinho Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexilhão F. C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Ronaldinho Romero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Augusto Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Arvin Larsson hit a great ball. In the 24th minute of the match Hernani Correia shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Guga Tavares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Anaia Barba took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Augusto Alcântara. José Augusto Alcântara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Hernani Correia kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernani Correia got free with Guga Tavares in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Bahia defense, Ronaldinho Romero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Augusto Alcântara. The Bahia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Augusto Alcântara should have stopped the shot. José Augusto Alcântara came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexilhão F. C.'s Germano Siqueira. But to his dismay, Germano Siqueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Romero in the 42nd minute of play forced Bahia's goalkeeper José Augusto Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Augusto Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germano Siqueira in the 43rd minute of play. The Bahia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexilhão F. C. were winning 0-4.

Abel de Lara blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Augusto Alcântara having to make a save. Abel de Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but José Augusto Alcântara made a huge save. In the 55th match minute, Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Lara to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th minute, Bahia's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ronaldinho Romero fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 58th minute Waldemar Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guga Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Augusto Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anaia Barba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 74 minutes into the game, Mexilhão F. C.'s Anaia Barba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Augusto Alcântara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. In the 79th minute, Mário Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bahia's José Augusto Alcântara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anaia Barba in the 82nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vágner Pires in the 86th minute of play forced Mexilhão F. C.'s goalkeeper Guga Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Mexilhão F. C.'s Ronaldinho Romero in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bahia's goalie prevented a goal. Abel de Lara received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. José Augusto Alcântara came out and tried to block the shot, but Abel de Lara slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 91st minute. Mexilhão F. C. played a much better game than Bahia and deserved their victory. The Bahia players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
