An unexpectedly hard shot by Gigi Bobei in the 12th minute of play forced Piast Leszczyny's goalkeeper Lucjan Czerwinski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valer Onișoru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Czeslaw Wolniewicz in the 21st minute of the match. After 22 played minutes Piast Leszczyny got a freekick which was hit by Czeslaw Wolniewicz. Lucjan Czerwinski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Bănățeanu in the 23rd minute of play. After the first half PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Konrad Siekierski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Iurie Bănățeanu struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Lucjan Czerwinski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca. Piast Leszczyny's Lucjan Czerwinski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Piast Leszczyny from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Sebastian Culcer got a free kick in the 60th minute.
