The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tony Angelsø hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Josué Quintal sped through Mexilhão F. C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Guga Tavares. After having played for 27 minutes, Germano Siqueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexilhão F. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Germano Siqueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manga Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Romero in the 29th minute of play. 29 minutes into the game, Mexilhão F. C.'s Ronaldinho Romero nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manga Santos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Manga Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anaia Barba, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Manga Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldinho Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute Germano Siqueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manga Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manga Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Romero in the 37th minute of play. Germano Siqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Manga Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josué Quintal to make the kick off. Manga Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anaia Barba, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. José Jofre hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Guga Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josué Quintal in the 58th minute of play. Manga Santos had great luck who in the 59thth minute grab hold of the ball when Anaia Barba from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 63 minutes into the game, Vivaldo Paes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MACUMBA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexilhão F. C. the free kick. 66 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Romero notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of MACUMBA's Manga Santos. Manga Santos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 72nd minute, Josué Quintal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anaia Barba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Germano Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodriguinho de Amaral hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Mexilhão F. C. defense, Josué Quintal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guga Tavares. The Mexilhão F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guga Tavares should have stopped the shot. When Mexilhão F. C.'s Anaia Barba in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye MACUMBA's goalie prevented a goal. Germano Siqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Manga Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexilhão F. C. were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing MACUMBA to leave the ground with a draw.
