Färid Mondragón took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Perrando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 4 minutes into the match, Newpi Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Rivaldo Esquerdo came free, but Vlado Delchev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Newpi Academy's Vlado Delchev proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Newpi Academy from getting a goal against them. In the 13th minute, Alberto Tonete made a precise shot to the right of Färid Mondragón. Armada's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 21 minutes of play, Newpi Academy's Alberto Tonete made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Färid Mondragón was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gavino Lauren hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. If Róbert Benkó had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Alberto Tonete's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Färid Mondragón was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. After 45 played minutes Newpi Academy got a freekick which was hit by Gavino Lauren.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Róbert Benkó to make the kick off. Róbert Benkó's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vlado Delchev read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Róbert Benkó had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vlado Delchev. Newpi Academy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Róbert Benkó was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 61 minutes into the match, Armada's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tonete came free, but Färid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Róbert Benkó might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vlado Delchev. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Róbert Benkó ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Armada booed when Newpi Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavino Lauren didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute Antonio Perrando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Färid Mondragón saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A throw-in in the 69th minute of the game was made by Gavino Lauren with Cornelio Guerrero as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 71st minute, Ma Feng Sen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute of the match Antonio Perrando shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Färid Mondragón showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Róbert Benkó came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Armada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Róbert Benkó couldn't finish the play. Vlado Delchev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Róbert Benkó in the 88th minute of play. Gavino Lauren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Färid Mondragón tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
