Palestra do Interior's Niclas Danielsson was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Maria Reneros in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Vitório Lago scored 0-2 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Maria Reneros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Palestra do Interior defense, Gaskon Sominaya kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Allan Varela. The Palestra do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Allan Varela should have stopped the shot. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Paulo Godoi replaced Vitório Lago. Allan Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reinaldo Briceño in the 93rd minute of play. With an all-out effort, Palestra do Interior's Maria Reneros threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Paulo Godoi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
