An unexpectedly hard shot by Stanton Mueller in the 17th minute of play forced Várzea F.C.'s goalkeeper Carlos Augusto Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute of the match ARMENIAN 11 got a corner. Várzea F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. In the 33rd match minute, Várzea F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Roberto to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in ARMENIAN 11's zone, Jude Monkhouse stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gregorio Green came out of the goal and Jude Monkhouse tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jude Monkhouse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to ARMENIAN 11 getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Narcis Nicolcioiu hit a great ball. With a little luck, ARMENIAN 11's Gregorio Green got control of the ball when Aloísio Secco tried to sneak it across the goal line.

The supporters of ARMENIAN 11 booed when Várzea F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Tennenbaum didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute, Stanton Mueller sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Várzea F.C.'s Carlos Augusto Quintal didn't even have to move. ARMENIAN 11's Gregorio Green played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jude Monkhouse in the 59th minute of play. Várzea F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Aloísio Secco in the 61st minute. Anderson Paiva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gregorio Green read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play.
