Guillermo Marin was slow to take the kick. During this time Real Club Celta de Vigo's players had a chance to rest. Pepe Toxeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Mansilha in the 17th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Alex Mansilha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pepe Toxeiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Academica Pulheim's attentive Roberto Seppmann managed to snatch the ball when Oscar Valcarcel made a throw-in in the 25th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Mansilha in the 26th minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pepe Toxeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ralph Wickede, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pepe Toxeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alex Mansilha went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alex Mansilha in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pepe Toxeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Renato Tapia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Ercole Armellini made a huge save. Nestor Araujo kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Alex Mansilha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 48th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pepe Toxeiro. Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alex Mansilha to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Renato Tapia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ercole Armellini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cordera Unzueta hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Renato Tapia in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ercole Armellini saved Academica Pulheim from getting behind. Pepe Toxeiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ralph Wickede in the 70th minute. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Everardo Arias got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Everardo Arias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ercole Armellini having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Academica Pulheim's zone, Everardo Arias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ercole Armellini came out of the goal and Everardo Arias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 94 minutes into the match, Real Club Celta de Vigo's goal looked a bit too open when Ralph Wickede came free, but Pepe Toxeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
