Joel Delfino made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 11 minutes into the match, Alex Mansilha notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of La Cosa Nostra's Joel Delfino. Joel Delfino was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hans Otterlei got in the 14th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Ercole Armellini handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. If Hans Otterlei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Academica Pulheim's Ercole Armellini proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Academica Pulheim from getting a goal against them. Hans Otterlei might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ercole Armellini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hans Otterlei ran back to his position shaking his head. 18 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Ercole Armellini had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hans Otterlei. Joel Delfino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Mansilha in the 19th minute of play. In the 24th minute of the match La Cosa Nostra got a corner. Academica Pulheim's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arnaldo Perpinya ran over to the corner to take the kick. Arnaldo Perpinya made a great header on La Cosa Nostra's corner, it was just that Academica Pulheim's Ercole Armellini managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 26th minute, Ralph Wickede made a precise shot to the right of Joel Delfino. La Cosa Nostra's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as La Cosa Nostra's Hans Otterlei slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ercole Armellini. That made the score 1-3 after 30 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hans Otterlei in the 36th minute of play forced Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Ercole Armellini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hans Otterlei received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ercole Armellini came out and tried to block the shot, but Hans Otterlei slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 37th minute. Ercole Armellini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Otterlei, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Steve Hodge hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Lutz Golke succeeded in the game's 45th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-4. After the first half Academica Pulheim were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Ercole Armellini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thilo Prinz hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. La Cosa Nostra's Joel Delfino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Mansilha in the 60th minute of play. Joel Delfino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Mansilha, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 65 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's goal looked a bit too open when Hans Otterlei came free, but Ercole Armellini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ercole Armellini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Otterlei, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. The supporters of La Cosa Nostra booed when Academica Pulheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ali Köpsel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ercole Armellini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Alvarez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute of the match La Cosa Nostra got a corner. Academica Pulheim's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tytus Lepper ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Academica Pulheim's goalkeeper Ercole Armellini, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. La Cosa Nostra's Joel Delfino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ralph Wickede in the 83rd minute of play. 86 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolo Nesor came free, but Ercole Armellini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th minute, Bartolo Nesor ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ercole Armellini was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Ralph Wickede could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Joel Delfino made a huge save.
