Dirch Glerum was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hønning's Dirch Glerum played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Cabezon in the 17th minute of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hønning's Dirch Glerum played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Cabezon in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dirch Glerum took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximino Cabezon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Hønning's goal looked a bit too open when Saturnino Michael came free, but Dirch Glerum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ACF Fiorentina's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ciriaco Urdaspal in the 39th minute. 45 minutes into the game, Saturnino Michael threw the ball into play from the sideline. Hønning's Olav Blommegaard quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Maximino Cabezon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Claudinei Velloso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benne Reijnders in the 52nd minute of play. After some careless play in the ACF Fiorentina defense, Benne Reijnders kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudinei Velloso. The ACF Fiorentina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudinei Velloso should have stopped the shot. Maximino Cabezons short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Dirch Glerum to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 56 played minutes ACF Fiorentina got a freekick which was hit by Horia Anisie. 58 minutes into the match, ACF Fiorentina's goal looked a bit too open when John-Arne Riise came free, but Claudinei Velloso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dirch Glerum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximino Cabezon in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Maximino Cabezon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dirch Glerum saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Cabezon in the 64th minute of play forced Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. ACF Fiorentina's Isaac Intxixu was substituted for Saturnino Michael. Bengt-Rune Fastesson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dirch Glerum came out and tried to block the shot, but Bengt-Rune Fastesson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 71st minute. Dirch Glerum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ariel Jesus in the 82nd minute of play. After 89 minutes of play, ACF Fiorentina's Ariel Jesus made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dirch Glerum was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Ariel Jesus in the 95th minute of play forced Hønning's goalkeeper Dirch Glerum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hønning's Dirch Glerum proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Hønning from getting a goal against them. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. ACF Fiorentina walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
