In the 29th minute Tomáš Požgaj shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of AFK Petržalka booed when SCs StarS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florian Hekman didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michal Hudák in the 43rd minute of play forced SCs StarS's goalkeeper Petr Čech to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AFK Petržalka were awarded a corner in the 44th minute after SCs StarS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Peter Pekarík took the corner. The corner led AFK Petržalka's Richard Zedník to a score. 1-2 in the 45th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Michal Hudák was the one to do the kick off. Florian Hekman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Co Scholten hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. SCs StarS made a substitution. Robert de Graaf replaced Sander Daniel. With a little luck, SCs StarS's Petr Čech got control of the ball when Tomáš Požgaj tried to sneak it across the goal line. Štefan Semeno showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgar Reitsema in the 59th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Florian Hekman put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Štefan Semeno. Tomáš Požgaj's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petr Čech read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michal Hudák in the 66th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, SCs StarS's goalkeeper Petr Čech had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomáš Požgaj. Matthijs Ebbinge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thiago Gol in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Štefan Semeno saved AFK Petržalka from getting behind. Peter Pekarík hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. AFK Petržalka's Štefan Semeno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thiago Gol in the 79th minute of play. If Thiago Gol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Štefan Semeno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thiago Gol, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute Tomáš Požgaj shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petr Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, AFK Petržalka's Petr Čech threw himself towards the right post 92 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Michal Hudák, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
