A nice corner shot did that Ladislao Serafo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Hugo Orlando Gatti quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience was convinced that Ladislao Serafo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugo Orlando Gatti was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. The Mainumby fans' excitement grew in the 9th match minute when Mainumby's Ladislao Serafo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 11th minute, David Isusko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the match, Mainumby's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Pernia came free, but Guaberto Cucao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hugo Orlando Gatti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nunez Gizon in the 14th minute of the match. The corner led to Consejo del Mate's Peyo Fonelleda getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Guaberto Cucao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bolo Bolaño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mainumby's Guaberto Cucao proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Mainumby from getting a goal against them. After 27 minutes, Bolo Bolaño made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Mainumby's Guaberto Cucao tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fagildo Pamanes in the 34th minute of play forced Mainumby's goalkeeper Guaberto Cucao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Mainumby's Guaberto Cucao got control of the ball when Julio Kemen tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Ladislao Serafo came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Mainumby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ladislao Serafo couldn't finish the play. Mainumby made a substitution. Silvano Tiadoro replaced Dionisio Acevedo. Mainumby's Lázaro Chap was substituted for Ladislao Serafo. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The Consejo del Mate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Mainumby's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vicente Santana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bolo Bolaño in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guaberto Cucao saved Mainumby from getting behind. 74 minutes into the match, Consejo del Mate's Vicente Santana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guaberto Cucao narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 77 minutes of play, Consejo del Mate's Bolo Bolaño made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guaberto Cucao was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nunez Gizon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Orlando Gatti having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Lázaro Chap took a quick shot and it went in 5-2 without a chance for Hugo Orlando Gatti to make any attempt to save it. Consejo del Mate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
