Fausto da Rocha came out of the goal and Niculae Şantău tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fausto da Rocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niculae Şantău, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucjan Setara scored 1-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nistor Maghiar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 20 minutes into the match, Minerul Baita -MM-'s goalkeeper Nistor Maghiar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lucjan Setara. Fausto da Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Shearer in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Gheorghe Birișu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gheorghe Birișu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Minerul Baita -MM- protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gheorghe Birișu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 28th minute of the game. One of Minerul Baita -MM-:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AFC - Curitiba:s goal. When the match had been going on for 30 minutes, AFC - Curitiba's August Wahlnäs got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Nistor Maghiar. 36 minutes into the game, Jan Bykowski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Nistor Maghiar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lucjan Setara charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lucjan Setara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lucjan Setara kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. After having played for 40 minutes, Ciprian Alexe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

August Wahlnäs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Nistor Maghiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
