Wieslaw Obuchowicz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dé Mello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. Pavlos Konstantakakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Jacinto in the 6th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Gianluca Balla could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Dé Mello however easily saved by the left post. Gianluca Balla's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dé Mello firmly grabbed it by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gianluca Balla got free with Dé Mello in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Canarinho Atordoado's Dé Mello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Canarinho Atordoado from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gianluca Balla in the 15th minute of play forced Canarinho Atordoado's goalkeeper Dé Mello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pavlos Konstantakakis. In the 96th minute, Anísio Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 97th minute Dinu Bocu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dé Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Canarinho Atordoado walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
