After having played for 9 minutes, Wilhelm Nienhaus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertha 1969's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilhelm Nienhaus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rune Jarstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doriva Sousa in the 16th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's Gigel Elenescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jósef Wandzik narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jósef Wandzik took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristian Oswald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Ghost Hunters's Henri-Patrick Grocholski. But to his dismay, Henri-Patrick Grocholski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 30th minute, Stefan Mayer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doriva Sousa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rune Jarstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Jósef Wandzik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Paulo da Silva in the 37th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Sven-Oskar Rocheleau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jörg Hannemann kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Doriva Sousa in the 51st minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ghost Hunters's goalkeeper Jósef Wandzik, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 64 minutes, Gilbert Lindell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ghost Hunters and the Hertha 1969 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gilbert Lindell kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doriva Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Jósef Wandzik showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Paulo da Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. The audience was convinced that Wilhelm Nienhaus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jósef Wandzik was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Stefan Mayer hit a great ball. Doriva Sousa struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Rune Jarstein didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ghost Hunters. Hertha 1969's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
