Gil Gouveia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Fernandes in the 6th minute of the match. Gil Gouveia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murilo Fernandes in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Aveiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Roberto Pacheco came free, but Gil Gouveia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gil Gouveia came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by mar-azul's Saúl Lage. But to his dismay, Saúl Lage quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Gil Gouveia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Pacheco in the 32nd minute of play. In the 37th minute, Ademar Soveral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to Aveiro FC's goalie finding himself so far out he could grab the ball Ahmet Turan Ayberk tried to make a shot after getting passed the defense. Gil Gouveia seemed to really have strength and confidence after that save. Estevão Lemos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sálvio Palha's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murilo Fernandes in the 47th minute of play forced Aveiro FC's goalkeeper Gil Gouveia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 49th minute of the match mar-azul got a corner. Aveiro FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ahmet Turan Ayberk ran over to the corner to take the kick. The Aveiro FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. mar-azul were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Murilo Fernandes to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Aveiro FC's Gil Gouveia got control of the ball when Murilo Fernandes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute of the match, Murilo Fernandes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gil Gouveia saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Aveiro FC's Egídio Sarmento got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 60th minute, Murilo Fernandes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The mar-azul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Aveiro FC's Gil Gouveia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Aveiro FC from getting a goal against them. 83 minutes into the match, mar-azul's goal looked a bit too open when Sálvio Palha came free, but Estevão Lemos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 92 played minutes Aveiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Silvano Simões. In the 94th minute Adelino Palmeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gil Gouveia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 95 minutes, Adelino Palmeira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the mar-azul and the Aveiro FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Aveiro FC booed when mar-azul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murilo Fernandes didn't get a good kick on the ball. mar-azul played a much better game than Aveiro FC and deserved their victory. The Aveiro FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
