Barbeita FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Pipis Dilberis got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 44th minute, Zigmantas Gimbutas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rogelio Sagrario to make the kick off. After 52 minutes Barbeita FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Quintino Carvalhais who took care of the corner kick. The corner led to SC Braga's Lu Xun Lei getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. If Rogelio Sagrario had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Antonio Adán made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rogelio Sagrario in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute Rogelio Sagrario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Adán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andrei Cumpan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Jordão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute Lu Xun Lei collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. Vicente Sales's late challenge caught a SC Braga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Sales helped the player get up and apologised. After 92 played minutes Barbeita FC got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Sales. Andrei Cumpan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quintino Carvalhais, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. SC Braga's Stig-Åke Mattsson managed to work through Barbeita FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Stig-Åke Mattsson dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. There was no doubt that SC Braga were the better team. SC Braga's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
