An unexpectedly hard shot by Torcato Pessoa in the 19th minute of play forced PINI FC's goalkeeper Manuel Magalhães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Witalis Bejrut fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Baía having to interfere. 24 minutes into the game, Dário Aveiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MAKRO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PINI FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, MAKRO's Dário Aveiro got a free kick in the 24th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
