Spectators: 157 (Terracing: 118, Seating: 36, VIP seats: 3) B.Z. F.C.'s Virgílio Costa started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Virgílio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Radowit Wielgopolski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 4 minutes into the match, SC Varzim's goalkeeper Radowit Wielgopolski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Guilherme. When José Guilherme came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the B.Z. F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Guilherme couldn't finish the play. When B.Z. F.C.'s Virgílio Costa in the 8th minute got a chance for a shot 8th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Varzim's goalie prevented a goal. Paulo Teles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Patrício Sequeira's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. José Guilherme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Radowit Wielgopolski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Radowit Wielgopolski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Estevão Ponte in the 22nd minute. The audience was convinced that Virgílio Costa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Radowit Wielgopolski was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. If Patrício Sequeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquim Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Radowit Wielgopolski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SC Varzim's Radowit Wielgopolski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Costa in the 39th minute of play. After 40 played minutes SC Varzim got a freekick which was hit by Unai Coya. B.Z. F.C.'s Virgílio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. SC Varzim's Radowit Wielgopolski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save SC Varzim from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Sérgio Damásio might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Teles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sérgio Damásio ran back to his position shaking his head. Virgílio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Radowit Wielgopolski having to make a save. In the 57th minute, Virgílio Costa made a precise shot to the right of Radowit Wielgopolski. SC Varzim's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Radowit Wielgopolski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Estevão Ponte, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Radowit Wielgopolski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Guilherme in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to SC Varzim getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Evert Borre hit a great ball. Paulo Teles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrício Sequeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Sérgio Damásio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Paulo Teles made a huge save. Radowit Wielgopolski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Costa in the 78th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Virgílio Costa in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Radowit Wielgopolski saved SC Varzim from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrício Sequeira in the 89th minute of play forced B.Z. F.C.'s goalkeeper Paulo Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Virgílio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
