The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Celso Vasconcelos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christos Koumantarakis's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. Celso Vasconcelos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christos Koumantarakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Humberto Velasquess short, quick shot in the 7thth minute got Shelton Knutson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Celso Vasconcelos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urban Myr in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evandro Santana in the 14th minute of play forced Futebol Espinhel's goalkeeper Celso Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Futebol Espinhel's Celso Vasconcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evandro Santana in the 15th minute of play. After 19 played minutes Benfica VN got a freekick which was hit by Christos Koumantarakis. Shelton Knutson came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Futebol Espinhel's Humberto Velasques. But to his dismay, Humberto Velasques quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 24 minutes into the match, Benfica VN's goalkeeper Shelton Knutson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Radoslaw Zukowski. Futebol Espinhel's Celso Vasconcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evandro Santana in the 26th minute of play. Christos Koumantarakis hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the game, Evandro Santana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Celso Vasconcelos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Rocha in the 36th minute of play forced Benfica VN's goalkeeper Shelton Knutson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute Futebol Espinhel were awarded a corner. Radoslaw Zukowski went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Germano Borba almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Benfica VN's Shelton Knutson did a great save. The Futebol Espinhel fans' excitement grew in the 38th match minute when Futebol Espinhel's Germano Borba looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 41 played minutes Benfica VN got a freekick which was hit by Christos Koumantarakis. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christos Koumantarakis to strike the kick off in the second half. Evandro Santana received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Celso Vasconcelos came out and tried to block the shot, but Evandro Santana slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 51st minute. Evandro Santana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Celso Vasconcelos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the game, Futebol Espinhel's Humberto Velasques nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Shelton Knutson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. After having played for 66 minutes, Christos Koumantarakis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benfica VN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christos Koumantarakis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Shelton Knutson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Rocha went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Shelton Knutson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radoslaw Zukowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. After 76 played minutes Benfica VN got a freekick which was hit by Christos Koumantarakis. Benfica VN's Shelton Knutson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Velasques in the 78th minute of play. In the 83rd minute Christos Koumantarakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Vasconcelos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evandro Santana came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Celso Vasconcelos could save by the left post. In the 88th minute, Humberto Velasques made a precise shot to the right of Shelton Knutson. Benfica VN's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-2. Benfica VN's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
