An unexpectedly hard shot by Giuseppe Catarinense in the 15th minute of play forced União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. União Sport Clube Paredes's Edwin van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save União Sport Clube Paredes from getting a goal against them. In the last second Edwin van der Sar throw himself and got hold of the ball when Nuno Madruga in the 17thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Gentil Macieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dabi Saens in the 20th minute of the match. Gentil Macieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerónimo Furtado in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by AD Pontassolense's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dabi Saens was slow to take the kick. During this time União Sport Clube Paredes's players had a chance to rest. Giuseppe Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edwin van der Sar having to interfere. Gentil Macieira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Santana in the 27th minute of the match. Roman Quilo took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gentil Macieira. Gentil Macieira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Alexandre Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gentil Macieira having to interfere. Dabi Saens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gentil Macieira having to interfere. Dabi Saens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Gentil Macieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Januário Domingos. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Gentil Macieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Quilo, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 55th minute, Jerónimo Furtado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, União Sport Clube Paredes's Roman Quilo got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Catarinense in the 64th minute of play. AD Pontassolense were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after União Sport Clube Paredes's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Januário Domingos took the corner. Dabi Saens got in the 70th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Gentil Macieira handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Gentil Macieira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alexandre Santana in the 71st minute. 79 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Januário Domingos came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
