But to his dismay, Jerónimo Furtado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dabi Saens in the 9th minute of play forced CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's goalkeeper António Brochado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 12 in the game by Jorge Esteves from a close distance when the talented Edwin van der Sar managed to make a qualified save. União Sport Clube Paredes's players were relieved. If Laureano Rego had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When União Sport Clube Paredes's Roman Quilo in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. António Brochado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerónimo Furtado, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After 36 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS! António Brochado had in the 38thth minute some difficulties stopping Jerónimo Furtado's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Jerónimo Furtado notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's António Brochado. António Brochado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Roman Quilo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerónimo Furtado in the 44th minute of play forced CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's goalkeeper António Brochado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. António Brochado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jerónimo Furtado went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

55 minutes into the match, CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's goal looked a bit too open when Dabi Saens came free, but António Brochado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as União Sport Clube Paredes's Jerónimo Furtado slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of António Brochado. That made the score 1-6 after 57 minutes of play. After having played for 61 minutes, Evandro Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evandro Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jerónimo Furtado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but António Brochado made a huge save. 66 minutes into the game, CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's Jorge Esteves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edwin van der Sar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-6. After having played for 69 minutes, Roman Quilo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Sport Clube Paredes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roman Quilo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. António Brochado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerónimo Furtado in the 72nd minute of play. António Brochado stood somewhat misplaced when Roman Quilo came free in front of goal and shot 2-7 to the left of him in the 76 minute. Edwin van der Sar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evandro Viana in the 80th minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Esteves came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's António Brochado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS from getting a goal against them. 86 minutes into the match, CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's goalkeeper António Brochado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dabi Saens. CANARINHOS DE ALCAINS's António Brochado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerónimo Furtado in the 90th minute of play. Evandro Viana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Edwin van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute of the match, Jerónimo Furtado tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but António Brochado saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The União Sport Clube Paredes players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
