Holger Vester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig Gulliksson in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, Baxters Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Celedonio Dominguez came free, but Staffan Joensson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by Baxters Boys's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Isaltino Paes was slow to take the kick. During this time Hammarby IF's players had a chance to rest. Hammarby IF's Kaj Björklund was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Staffan Joensson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 16th minute Celedonio Dominguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Staffan Joensson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jan-Olof Bergendahl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Holger Vester made a huge save. Baxters Boys's Matthias Norberg got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Stig Gulliksson put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Holger Vester. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Hammarby IF from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Hammarby IF's Holger Vester got control of the ball when Stig Gulliksson tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Celedonio Dominguez to strike the kick off in the second half. Bo-Erik Wallin kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Olof Bergendahl came free, but Holger Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gösta Söderberg scored 1-2 in the 72nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Staffan Joensson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Tavares in the 84th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Baxters Boys's Enrique Tavares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Holger Vester narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Tavares came free, but Holger Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig Gulliksson in the 91st minute of play forced Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Holger Vester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Carl Thorsberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baxters Boys's supporters rose to their feet, but Carl Thorsberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Holger Vester breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Hammarby IF walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
