Gabriel Van Dyck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roelof Molenaar in the 6th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, U21 Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when Klaas Jan Mol came free, but Gabriel Van Dyck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute Roelof Molenaar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Van Dyck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Manuel Antonio Cromefeldt took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Dennis Beerthuis to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Antonio Cromefeldt in the 24th minute of play forced U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Dennis Beerthuis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago van Beek hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute of the match Marnix Mastebroek sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gabriel Van Dyck skillfully saved the ball. In the 39th minute, Manuel Antonio Cromefeldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, U21 Belgium's Jerome Specht got a free kick in the 41st minute. U21 Belgium's Gust Rammer quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Dries Bogaard, made in the 46th minute of the game. After 46 minutes, Klaas Jan Mol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Netherlands and the U21 Belgium players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 46th match minute, U21 Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Klaas Jan Mol to maneuver through the defense. If Jerome Specht had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Robert Collen made a kick off. U21 Belgium's Gabriel Van Dyck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Collen in the 52nd minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Antonio Cromefeldt came free, but Dennis Beerthuis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Klaas Jan Mol scored 1-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gabriel Van Dyck, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thiago van Beek hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Gabriel Van Dyck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klaas Jan Mol in the 70th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferry Hebels in the 75th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Gabriel Van Dyck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was beautiful to see U21 Netherlands's Marnix Mastebroek in action when he in the 80th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The audience thought a goal was coming when Dave Bense got free with Gabriel Van Dyck in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 86 minutes of play, U21 Belgium's Manuel Antonio Cromefeldt made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dennis Beerthuis was left in no man's land by his defense there! 90 minutes into the game, Harmen Hilkes threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Belgium's Gust Rammer quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Roelof Molenaar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Gabriel Van Dyck made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Belgium had won after a very even match.
