The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 17 minutes into the match, Colo-Colo's goal looked a bit too open when Sune Heidal came free, but Pinone Claro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlitos Caszely in the 28th minute of play forced Monks in Robes's goalkeeper Bøje Dyssen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Henríquez hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Bøje Dyssen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlitos Caszely, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After 41 played minutes Colo-Colo got a freekick which was hit by Carlitos Caszely. Ivo Basay in the 47thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlitos Caszely was the one to do the kick off. Bøje Dyssen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Basay, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. When Ivo Basay fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Colo-Colo's protests and gave Ivo Basay a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Monks in Robes booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Basay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bøje Dyssen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Basay in the 58th minute of the match. Francisco José Basaure kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Pinone Claro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sune Heidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pinone Claro made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Sune Heidal sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hans Fahler got free with Pinone Claro in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlitos Caszely in the 77th minute of play forced Monks in Robes's goalkeeper Bøje Dyssen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colo-Colo's Bermejo Pretot was substituted for Marcos Francisco Aguayo. Colo-Colo made a substitution. Luis Mena replaced Maxi Falcón. Timmi Jebat's late challenge caught a Colo-Colo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sune Heidal couldn't finish the play. In the 111th minute Kenny Ebsøe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pinone Claro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Colo-Colo's Pinone Claro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenny Ebsøe in the 111th minute of play. After 112 minutes, Reinar Lennild mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monks in Robes and the Colo-Colo players grew even worse after the yellow card.

The players still looked rather fresh even though it was time for second half of the overtime. Toninho Bibikov did a quick kick off. Colo-Colo's Pinone Claro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 126th minute of the match, managed to save Colo-Colo from getting a goal against them. In the 128th match minute, Colo-Colo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toninho Bibikov to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Colo-Colo booed when Monks in Robes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 130 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinar Lennild didn't get a good kick on the ball. Neither team seemed willing to take risks during extra-time and the defenses won out. The match would now go to a penalty shoot-out.

The referee gave Monks in Robes a penalty, 139 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Yao Chao Feng, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Colo-Colo's Pinone Claro. 2-3. Bøje Dyssen had in the 144thth minute some difficulties stopping Timmi Jebat's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. A hard and well directed shot from Luis Mena led 152 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Monks in Robes's Bøje Dyssen became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 5-4.
