Hugo Orlando Gatti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Francis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vicente Santana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Elpidio Francis managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters rose to their feet, but Elpidio Francis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hugo Orlando Gatti breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hugo Orlando Gatti came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis. But to his dismay, Elpidio Francis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Elpidio Francis scored 0-3 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hugo Orlando Gatti, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Branislav Velchevski didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 33rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Consejo del Mate's Hugo Orlando Gatti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Francis in the 36th minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hugo Orlando Gatti was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicente Santana got free with Branislav Velchevski in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bolo Bolaño in the 42nd minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Consejo del Mate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA were winning 1-4.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elpidio Francis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute of the match, Elpidio Francis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hugo Orlando Gatti saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Benicio Seguinus hit a great ball. Consejo del Mate were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cayetano Sagrario took the corner. The corner led Consejo del Mate's Cayetano Sagrario to fire away a dangerous shot which Branislav Velchevski despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Elpidio Francis came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elpidio Francis couldn't finish the play. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Consejo del Mate's goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Bolo Bolaño managed to get in a good position for a shot. Consejo del Mate's Hugo Orlando Gatti proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Consejo del Mate from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Elpidio Francis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugo Orlando Gatti was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Elpidio Francis was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peyo Fonelleda in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Branislav Velchevski saved ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA from getting behind. In the 94th minute Consejo del Mate were awarded a corner. Cayetano Sagrario went to the cornerflag to take it. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
