The Merengue FC fans' excitement grew in the 4th match minute when Merengue FC's Aquiles Urtsin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A collision led to Merengue FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Ismael Frances hit a great ball. Ediberto Sampaio's late challenge caught a Trabzonspor FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ediberto Sampaio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Trabzonspor FC booed when Merengue FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ediberto Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aquiles Urtsin in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Meriç Bergin saved Trabzonspor FC from getting behind. Meriç Bergin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Frances, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. But to his dismay, Darwin Núñez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 58thth minute of the game Aquiles Urtsin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Trabzonspor FC's Meriç Bergin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Ediberto Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merengue FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ediberto Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute Nihat Ceviz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bayan Gugovski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Haşim Kanver in the 65th minute of play forced Merengue FC's goalkeeper Bayan Gugovski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ediberto Sampaio took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Meriç Bergin. Trabzonspor FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Trabzonspor FC's Ahmet Haşim Kanver got a free kick in the 95th minute.
