Ede Edelényi did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Miguel Baptista 14 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Nimród Vére defense, Zé Augusto Brasil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olivér Sipos. The Nimród Vére fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olivér Sipos should have stopped the shot. In the 24th minute, Aílton Simões hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Elano Travassos came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Squadra Sulista fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elano Travassos couldn't finish the play.
