In the 22nd minute Koen Van der Hoeven shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fedele Schiacciacasse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cesar Obano kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Camillo Caniglia hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Camillo Corna struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Conrado Atarratze didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A.S. Udinese. Conrado Atarratze stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Donato Ferrante's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A.S. Udinese's Ermanno Moscatelli was substituted for Camillo Caniglia. A.S. Udinese's Alessandro Grieco was substituted for Frank Di Salvatore. Conrado Atarratze breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 80th minute, A.S. Udinese's Camillo Corna ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Conrado Atarratze. Conrado Atarratze yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. When Donato Ferrante came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the A.S. Udinese fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato Ferrante couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind La Coruña FC's goalkeeper Conrado Atarratze, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Camillo Corna managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.S. Udinese's supporters rose to their feet, but Camillo Corna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Conrado Atarratze breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Donato Ferrante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Conrado Atarratze was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. In the 95th minute, Alberto Laffitte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. La Coruña FC's Conrado Atarratze played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camillo Corna in the 98th minute of play. The A.S. Udinese supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing A.S. Udinese would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
