José Duarte might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ludvig Refsnes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Duarte ran back to his position shaking his head. Fernandão Linares was out of position in the 8 minute of play, and Snorre Nygaard capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Snorre Nygaard really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a rather tough play, AEK FC's Birger Dalheim got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 18th minute, AEK FC's Snorre Nygaard ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fernandão Linares. Fernandão Linares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. In the last second Fernandão Linares throw himself and got hold of the ball when Snorre Nygaard in the 22ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. A collision led to AEK FC getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Halvard Berggren hit a great ball. AEK FC's Ludvig Refsnes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Augusto Messias in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Snorre Nygaard made a precise shot to the right of Fernandão Linares. SAO JOANENSE FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. In the 33rd match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Duarte to maneuver through the defense. Fernandão Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Snorre Nygaard in the 35th minute of play. Fernandão Linares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Snorre Nygaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. 40 minutes into the match, SAO JOANENSE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Snorre Nygaard came free, but Fernandão Linares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Baltazar Lago stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A beautiful save bye SAO JOANENSE FC's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of AEK FC booed when SAO JOANENSE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute Snorre Nygaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandão Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. AEK FC's Ludvig Refsnes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save AEK FC from getting a goal against them. 79 minutes into the game, Snorre Nygaard cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Fernandão Linares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ståle Skogli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Fernandão Linares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 85 played minutes SAO JOANENSE FC got a freekick which was hit by Arnaldo Meira. If Ståle Skogli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The AEK FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while SAO JOANENSE FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
