The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Sheriff getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Stefanos Vrettos hit a great ball. In the 9th minute, Anthon Glanselius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stefanos Vrettos might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sören Zachrisson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stefanos Vrettos ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th of the match, Erik Bergendahl tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Fondas Koufaliotis got in the way and made a wonderful save. When Marko Björkqvist fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Skyborn FC's protests and gave Marko Björkqvist a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th match minute, Sheriff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alkis Bletsas to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Skyborn FC defense, Grigoris Kasnakidis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sören Zachrisson. The Skyborn FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sören Zachrisson should have stopped the shot. Alkis Bletsas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sören Zachrisson having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Skyborn FC's Erik Bergendahl dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Lars Skoog hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the game, Sheriff's Alkis Bletsas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sören Zachrisson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tom Sigfridsson in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fondas Koufaliotis saved Sheriff from getting behind. In the 46th minute, Erik Bergendahl got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Sheriff made a substitution. Stamatis Paspalakis replaced Omiros Prikourakis. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Erik Bergendahl to strike the kick off in the second half. Erik Bergendahl hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Marko Björkqvist hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Miltos Tokalidis's late challenge caught a Skyborn FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miltos Tokalidis helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Skyborn FC booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miltos Tokalidis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fondas Koufaliotis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Skoog in the 59th minute of play. Stefanos Vrettos hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Fondas Koufaliotis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Sigfridsson in the 63rd minute of the match. A collision led to Skyborn FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Anthon Glanselius hit a great ball. If Stamatis Paspalakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Sheriff's Grigoris Kasnakidis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sören Zachrisson. That made the score 1-3 after 70 minutes of play. Karl-Michael Fernström hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. A collision led to Skyborn FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Erik Bergendahl hit a great ball. Alkis Bletsas struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Sören Zachrisson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sheriff. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grigoris Kasnakidis got free with Sören Zachrisson in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fondas Koufaliotis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erik Bergendahl in the 89th minute of the match. Erik Bergendahl's late challenge caught a Sheriff's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erik Bergendahl helped the player get up and apologised. In the 98th match minute, Skyborn FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erik Bergendahl to maneuver through the defense. Sheriff's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
