Navigatii Bacău's Grigore Ozon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Sturkenboom in the 8th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Bierunese's Anton Sturkenboom nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Grigore Ozon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Anton Sturkenboom managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bierunese's supporters rose to their feet, but Anton Sturkenboom was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Grigore Ozon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 14 minutes into the match, Navigatii Bacău's goal looked a bit too open when Hubert Tonnis came free, but Grigore Ozon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Bierunese's goalkeeper Bjorn Panter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Horea Stelea. Willem Jongsma might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Grigore Ozon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Willem Jongsma ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Claudiu Manolescu to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hubert Tonnis got free with Grigore Ozon in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Jan Reitsma fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bierunese's protests and gave Jan Reitsma a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Navigatii Bacău booed when Bierunese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan Reitsma didn't get a good kick on the ball.
