After 8 played minutes Compostela FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Ulisses Senna. Club Deportivo Águila's Elias Portillo got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 11 minutes into the match, Compostela FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Elias Portillo came free, but Luiz Fernando Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cesinha Paraense hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Ricardo Peña charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Peña the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 29th minute, Ricardo Peña hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 33rd minute Cesinha Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Braun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 played minutes Club Deportivo Águila got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Hernández. If Nelson Hernández had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Club Deportivo Águila getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Edgar Peredes hit a great ball. Club Deportivo Águila's David Braun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Roberto Galvão in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Evandro Bastos replaced Alfredo Mandrak. David Braun made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when André Toledo sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Compostela FSCMZ's Leonardo Teixeira slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of David Braun. That made the score 0-1 after 67 minutes of play. Compostela FSCMZ's Almir Faria was substituted for Cesinha Paraense. Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Bernardo Gonçalves replaced Cléberson do Valle. Ricardo Peña hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Almir Faria's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, David Braun skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Félix Pimentel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Deportivo Águila's supporters rose to their feet, but Félix Pimentel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fernando Baiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 87 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Águila's goalkeeper David Braun had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by André Toledo. Club Deportivo Águila's defense didn't have a chance, in the 94th minute, when Almir Faria scored to the left of an out of position David Braun, making the score, 0-2. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Club Deportivo Águila lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
