The supporters of Racing Club booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Restle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Racing Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvestre Mundo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute Silvestre Mundo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andre Quessy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Racing Club's Silvestre Mundo got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 31 minutes of play, Racing Club's Domingos Gonsalve made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Andre Quessy was left in no man's land by his defense there! Andre Quessy came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Racing Club's Domingos Gonsalve. But to his dismay, Domingos Gonsalve quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 38 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Domingos Gonsalve came free, but Andre Quessy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lorenzo Raymond hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alxavier Brütsch to make the kick off. Wilfredo Gilabert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Quessy having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goalkeeper Andre Quessy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Domingos Gonsalve. The supporters of Racing Club booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonard Schnyder didn't get a good kick on the ball. Racing Club made a substitution. Valentin Ibon replaced Silvestre Mundo. Leonard Schnyder kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Andre Quessy came out and tried to block the shot, but Celedonio Endira slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 68th minute. Celedonio Endira succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-7 in the 71st playminute. Andre Quessy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Celedonio Endira's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. In the 79th minute of the match Racing Club got a corner. Fire Devils's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lorenzo Raymond ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fire Devils's goalkeeper Andre Quessy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Fire Devils getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Max Restle hit a great ball. In the 84th minute, Racing Club's Celedonio Endira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Andre Quessy. Andre Quessy yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-8. With a little luck, Fire Devils's Andre Quessy got control of the ball when Celedonio Endira tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 89 played minutes Fire Devils got a freekick which was hit by Dave Drescher. After having played for 91 minutes, Celedonio Endira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celedonio Endira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Celedonio Endira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andre Quessy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, Fire Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Max Restle to maneuver through the defense. In the 95th minute, Fire Devils's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Valentin Ibon fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 97th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Bieito to maneuver through the defense. Racing Club's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
