After 9 minutes, Santos Guzman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chelco FC and the Three Lions FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Santos Guzman kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Júnior Branco hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Loco Burgos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo Vieira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the game, Franco Mastantuono cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Jeferson Pernambucano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 26 played minutes Three Lions FC got a freekick which was hit by Oscar Linhares. In the 28th match minute, Three Lions FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Vieira to maneuver through the defense. Franco Mastantuono received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Jeferson Pernambucano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. George Kroos hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, Dario Gartzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute Cafu de Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loco Burgos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 44 minutes, Arnulfo Txatxu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chelco FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnulfo Txatxu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anibal Tallia hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Abelardo Vieira put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Loco Burgos. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chelco FC's goalkeeper Loco Burgos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Chelco FC's Loco Burgos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Chelco FC from getting a goal against them. After 61 played minutes Chelco FC got a freekick which was hit by Dario Gartzi. Chelco FC's Baldomero Telmo was substituted for Anastasio Elija. In the 62nd minute, Dario Gartzi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Three Lions FC's Jeferson Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florentino Froylan in the 65th minute of play. After 66 minutes Three Lions FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Benito Berriotxoa who took care of the corner kick. 68 minutes into the match, Three Lions FC's goal looked a bit too open when Franco Mastantuono came free, but Jeferson Pernambucano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th minute Benito Berriotxoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeferson Pernambucano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cafu de Moraes hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Jeferson Pernambucano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franco Mastantuono in the 72nd minute of play. Three Lions FC's Jeferson Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franco Mastantuono in the 73rd minute of play. Franco Mastantuono fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeferson Pernambucano having to interfere. Guto Brodel hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Florentino Froylan might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jeferson Pernambucano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Florentino Froylan ran back to his position shaking his head. 81 minutes into the match, Three Lions FC's goal looked a bit too open when Benito Berriotxoa came free, but Jeferson Pernambucano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 88 minutes of play Chelco FC's Santos Guzman was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Santos Guzman hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. The supporters of Three Lions FC booed when Chelco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baldomero Telmo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Loco Burgos made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Júnior Branco sent off a good shot on target.
