A collision led to Deportivo Kadorna getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Tobias Argider hit a great ball. Manuel Nelis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Santikurtz in the 7th minute of the match. In the 8th minute, Albino Qwinton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manuel Nelis was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 16th match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lieven Cox to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Manuel Pitin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Nelis was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Seppe Van Hoovelt during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Seppe Van Hoovelt hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. When Albino Qwinton came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Deportivo Kadorna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albino Qwinton couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Genk getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Seppe Van Hoovelt hit a great ball. After having played for 23 minutes, Manuel Pitin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Kadorna's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Pitin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 27 played minutes Genk got a freekick which was hit by Seppe Van Hoovelt. In the 29th minute, Mateo Mino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 30 played minutes, Genk's Ruud De Spiegeleire shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Silvano Kismi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Genk reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Pitin in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Nelis saved Genk from getting behind. Manuel Nelis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Santikurtz, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. When Deportivo Kadorna's Manuel Pitin in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Genk's goalie prevented a goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Pitin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lieven Cox to maneuver through the defense. Manuel Nelis acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 56th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Amado Vimaro. With a little luck, Genk's Manuel Nelis got control of the ball when Manuel Pitin tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Pitin got free with Manuel Nelis in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manuel Pitin scored 0-2 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manuel Nelis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 68th minute Albino Qwinton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Nelis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 71 played minutes Deportivo Kadorna got a freekick which was hit by Abelardo Pietro. Seppe Van Hoovelt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mateo Mino kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Ruud De Spiegeleire's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Silvano Kismi on his right side and into the goal. 79 minutes into the game it was 1-2. When Tobias Argider fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Kadorna's protests and gave Tobias Argider a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 played minutes Deportivo Kadorna got a freekick which was hit by Tobias Argider. Maarten Belmans struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Silvano Kismi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Genk. In the 91st minute, Seppe Van Hoovelt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Genk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Tobias Argider fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Nelis having to interfere. Genk succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Deportivo Kadorna had controlled the match.
