The supporters of Pinhote FC booed when Genk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seppe Van Hoovelt didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Luke De Beer came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Genk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luke De Beer couldn't finish the play. Severino lago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maarten Belmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. After 14 played minutes Genk got a freekick which was hit by Christian Moors. Seppe Van Hoovelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Severino lago tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Seppe Van Hoovelt took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Severino lago. Severino lago dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Manuel Nelis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Bulhosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the match, Pinhote FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maarten Belmans came free, but Severino lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Santiago Bulhosa took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Manuel Nelis to make any attempt to save it. Wilson Câmara struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Manuel Nelis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pinhote FC. When Gualter Lencastre fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pinhote FC's protests and gave Gualter Lencastre a yellow card for diving instead. 46 minutes into the game, one of Pinhote FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maarten Belmans stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Pinhote FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Gualter Lencastre hit a great ball. Genk's Manuel Nelis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilson Câmara in the 55th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Christian Moors during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Genk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Moors to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Pinhote FC's Severino lago got control of the ball when Maarten Belmans tried to sneak it across the goal line.
