With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jailson de Senna in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esteban Jordy saved El Patriarca ® from getting behind. The Itajaí Football Club fans' excitement grew in the 13th match minute when Itajaí Football Club's Jailson de Senna looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Hortêncio Fontes hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, El Patriarca ®'s Paulo Mattos threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Siro Abad, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Reis in the 22nd minute of play forced El Patriarca ®'s goalkeeper Esteban Jordy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of El Patriarca ® booed when Itajaí Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hortêncio Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mauro Galindo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Jarbas Hermes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Esteban Jordy. El Patriarca ®'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jarbas Hermes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jailson de Senna in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Esteban Jordy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Esteban Jordy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jailson de Senna went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Esteban Jordy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jailson de Senna in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Paulo Mattos had in the 52ndth minute some difficulties stopping Siro Abad's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 52nd minute, Siro Abad ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo Mattos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Carlos Reis's late challenge caught a El Patriarca ®'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Reis helped the player get up and apologised. Carlos Reis hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Paulo Mattos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Galindo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Jailson de Senna put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Esteban Jordy. El Patriarca ®'s Esteban Jordy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jailson de Senna in the 74th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Valdomiro Couto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Esteban Jordy. El Patriarca ®'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdomiro Couto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. Carlos Reis got his second yellow card in the match during the 80th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Otávio Paranaense's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Esteban Jordy skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Esteban Jordy was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Jailson de Senna capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jailson de Senna really showed his touch with that goal: 1-6. In the 89th minute, Elói Carioca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jailson de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Esteban Jordy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Mattos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Galindo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Itajaí Football Club eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
