Amílton Gaúcho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Jerzy Poremba came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Silvers Ilkus fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jerzy Poremba couldn't finish the play. Sérgio Salgado made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Jerzy Poremba sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the game, Miromir Budarz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Silvers Ilkus's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave São Paulo F.C. the free kick. After 24 played minutes Silvers Ilkus got a freekick which was hit by Miromir Budarz. In the 26th minute, Jerzy Poremba got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 27 played minutes São Paulo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Matías Zonta. 33 minutes into the match, Silvers Ilkus's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Brito came free, but Radomil Watarz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Radomil Watarz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amílton Gaúcho, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Jerzy Poremba who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Sérgio Salgado when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Andrzej Dziura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Silvers Ilkus booed when São Paulo F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidnei Dantas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th match minute, Silvers Ilkus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zenon Filipowski to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Júlio Brito to make the kick off. Andrzej Dziura's late challenge caught a São Paulo F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Andrzej Dziura helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Silvers Ilkus's Andrzej Dziura got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Radomil Watarz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Brito in the 57th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Túlio Lira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The São Paulo F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Júlio Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Paulo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radomil Watarz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Túlio Lira kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Jerzy Poremba took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sérgio Salgado. Sérgio Salgado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Jerzy Poremba kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Túlio Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Paulo F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Túlio Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radomil Watarz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Sidnei Dantas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Radomil Watarz. That made the score 2-3 in the 77 minute of play. After 85 minutes of play, Silvers Ilkus's Jerzy Poremba made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sérgio Salgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Silvers Ilkus were victorious despite being under pressure from São Paulo F.C. for much of the match.
