Medero Gadea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merlin Dolan having to interfere. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raik Topuz in the 37th minute of play. Zamalek FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Téo Savion was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

In the 71st minute, Marcellus Walpert fired a really elegant long shot, but Merlin Dolan threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Merlin Dolan didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 72nd minute, which inside left pole to 0-6. Téo Savion who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Merlin Dolan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 76 played minutes Raik Topuz rounded Zamalek FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-7. Medero Gadea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merlin Dolan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Raik Topuz went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-8 was the resulting score. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Zamalek FC from getting a goal against them. Olympique Fribourg were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Zamalek FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marcellus Walpert took the corner. Olympique Fribourg's Marcellus Walpert was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Merlin Dolan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Medero Gadea received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Merlin Dolan came out and tried to block the shot, but Medero Gadea slotted it home off the left post making it 0-11 in the 96th minute. Olympique Fribourg played a much better game than Zamalek FC and deserved their victory. The Zamalek FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
